One thing that keeps me going recording memories of family and creating these pages is how much joy my children and husband get looking at them.   Along the way I have learned you don't have to create the "perfect" page; just make something and your family is sure to love it.

Summer Photo Page

Last month I was inspired by this page on Ali Edwards site.  She is really such a source of inspiration.  For several weeks I worked and reworked this page into my head until I finally tackled it.  Here is the end result...

As you can see my end result is very different than Ali's although the same idea was incorporated.  I used square as my main shape throughout the page.

First I used my Cricut to cut 2 inch squares randomly on a 12x12 white card stock.  Next I used my scissors to trim the sides of the card stock.  I wanted the sides to be trimmed unevenly so purposely did so.

Next, I used my 2 inch squares from my white card stock to be used as a guide to trim my 4x6 photos.  Remember, you don't need to trim your photos perfectly because once the white card stock goes over the photos and paper the images will look perfectly square.

Next I put the white card stock over my background paper and used a pencil to create squares so I knew where to attach my images and paper.

Remove white card stock and attach images to background paper.

Attach white card stock, add journaling, and the page is complete!

P.S. - I have a crafting room with a crafting table, but find myself working on the floor often.  Not sure why.  Hence why the photos were taken on the ground!

The Latest Page(s)

I worked on two pages these last few weeks.  A few things about my scrapbook"ing" style...I always use a white background.  I don't like the look of "busy" pages.  I think the photos over embellishments/pattern paper should always take center stage.

Secondly, I really don't spend a lot of money on my pages.  It is always a personal challenge to create pages with whatever tools I have on hand.  I go to the scrapbook store about 2-3 times a year and spend 40-50 dollars or so (this includes the cost of the albums themselves.)  I do own a cricut- I purchased my cricut used, but this is probably the one exception to my rule of not spending a lot of money on scrapbooking.
You can see evidence of my cricut on most my pages.

Latest Page #2

12x12 - card stock, 5x7 photo.  Original inspiration again from Ali Edwards at: http://aliedwards.com/2011/04/heart-this-photo-scrapbook-layout.html.  I used my cricut to make the hearts and the tag with paper scraps I already had.

Latest Page #1

I had two photos of Fulton from before his first birthday I had not made a page for yet.  (Now his "baby" book is up-to date.)  Here is the original inspiration for this page: http://aliedwards.com/2011/07/life-is-good-scrapbook-layout.html   As you can see, I used Ali's repeated stamp idea on this page.  It's a 12x12 page and the photo is a 5x7 cut down.  The boxes are hand drawn.
